چکیده

Highway systems play a key role in providing mobility to society, especially during emergency situations, including earthquakes. Bridges highway are susceptible damage from earthquakes, causing traffic capacity loss leading serious impact on surrounding areas. To better prepare for such scenarios, it is important estimate and disruptions For this purpose, traffic-capacity-analysisbased methodology was developed model the performance of transportation network immediately following an earthquake using macroscopic multi-level urban planning simulation EMME4. This method employs second order linear approximation (SOLA) assignment calculates total system travel time various scenarios due bridge It has been applied Pohang City Korea evaluate networks situations. The results indicate significant increase decrease speed as intensity increases. However, volume varies depending bridges. assumed that location bridges routing patterns might be main reason. expected help when earthquakes cause

From Microscopic to Macroscopic Traffic Models

The paper presents a systematic derivation of macroscopic equations for freeway traffic flow from an Enskog-like kinetic approach. The resulting fluid-dynamic traffic equations for the spatial density, average velocity, and velocity variance of vehicles are compared to equations, which can be obtained from a microscopic force model of individual vehicle motion. Simulation results of the models ...

Structural traffic analysis for network security monitoring

Traffic on the Internet is constantly growing more complex and multifaceted. This natural evolution is mirrored by novel kinds of malicious traffic: automated attacks subvert thousands of machines at a time, enabling a wide range of subsequent attacks and nuisances such as distributed denial-of-service attacks and generation of vast amounts of unsolicited electronic mail. Consequently, there is...

Harvesting traffic-induced vibrations for structural health monitoring of bridges

This paper discusses the development and testing of a renewable energy source for powering wireless sensors used to monitor the structural health of bridges. Traditional power cables or battery replacement are excessively expensive or infeasible in this type of application. An inertial power generator has been developed that can harvest traffic-induced bridge vibrations. Vibrations on bridges h...
